Welcome to ConCiencia Canine, where evidence-based training and compassionate care go hand in hand. Through force-free, choice-based methods, I help you and your dog build a relationship grounded in trust, safety, and clear communication.
Because real training supports the whole dog - body, mind, and emotions.
The ConCiencia Canine Difference -More Than Just a trainer
Hi, I’m Samantha.
Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Before working professionally with them, I spent my time volunteering simply because I loved being around them. That passion eventually led me into Veterinary Nursing, where I gained a deeper understanding of canine health and behaviour.
Over time, I found myself increasingly drawn to the behavioural side of working with dogs. After completing my certification in dog training, I quickly realised this was where I truly belonged. Since then, I have continued expanding my knowledge through courses and seminars covering a wide range of behavioural topics, including resource guarding, predation, and canine ethology. I am currently working toward certification as a Behavioural Adjustment Training (BAT) instructor.
I am a force-free trainer and a full member of APDTNZ.
As a Bachelor-qualified Veterinary Nurse and Certified Dog Trainer, I combine clinical knowledge with compassionate, evidence-based training. This background allows me to view behaviour from a broader perspective and recognise when medical factors may be influencing what a dog is experiencing.
As a parent of two young children, I also understand the unique dynamics between dogs and kids in busy households. My training supports families in creating safe, calm relationships where both dogs and children can thrive together.
ConCiencia Canine was built on the belief that behaviour and wellbeing cannot be separated. My approach focuses on choice, trust, and clear communication so that dogs feel safe enough to learn and families feel confident supporting them.
Guided by Cooperative Care and Fear Free principles, my goal is not simply to train dogs, but to help dogs and their people build calm, confident relationships that work in real everyday life.
The meeting point of science and awareness
The name ConCiencia is a deliberate play on words in Spanish: con ciencia means “with science,” while conciencia means “consciousness” or awareness. Together, they reflect the heart of my work, training that is informed by science, delivered with empathy, and respectful of the dog’s emotional experience.
